Harriers Hack ItCUSAI Intervarsity Event of the Year Awards 2001
Dublin University Harriers and Athletic Club (DUHAC) scooped top prize at the CUSAI Intervarsity of the year Awards 2001. The ceremony was held in the Pavilion, College Park on Thursday 8 November and recognised the efforts of the club and it's members in organising a spectacular University Track and Field championship at Morton Stadium in April this year. The Harriers just edged out GMIT Equestrian Club which was second and Queens University Belfast Judo Club which was awarded third place. All three clubs, and Trinity in particular, showed excellent levels of organisation and typified the wealth of administrative knowledge, commitment and enthusiasm within student sport clubs. Over 300 competitors representing 21 Universities and Colleges took part in the championships which were eventually won by University of Limerick. The club created a specific web site for the event and races were covered extensively by the print media and the results reported on the radio and through aertel. This prestigious annual award is sponsored by Goldman Sachs and the club officers were delighted to receive their prizes which were presented by the chairperson of CUSAI Ms Nessa O'Donnell. Full details of the awards and accompanying photographs are available on the CUSAI webpage (www.cusai.ie). |
