Dublin University Harriers and Athletic Club
Club Rules
circa 1962

- The club shall be known as The Dublin University Harriers and Athletic Club.
- The object of the Club is the promotion of Amateur Athletics and Cross-Country running in the University.
- For the purposes of correspondence the address shall be:
The Pavillion, Trinity College, Dublin 2.
unless otherwise stated.

- The Club shall be affiliated to the A.A.U.E. and shall run its matches according to the rules of the above association.
- The club shall also be affiliated to D.U.C.A.C. and shall adhere to any rulings that the Central Athletic Committee shall make.

- The club colours shall be:
- For the Harriers section:
Maroon vest with D.U.H. embroidered in french grey on the chest, and maroon shorts.
- For the track and field section:
White vest with D.U.H.A.C. embroidered in maroon on the chest, white shorts with a maroon stripe on each side.
- These colours shall be worn by all members, when competing for the University or the club.

- Membership of the club is confined to amateurs as defined by the A.A.U.E.:
"An amateur is one who has never competed for a money prize or monetary consideration in any Athletic Sport or Game or been in any way interested in a staked bet or wager made in connection with any athletic competition in which he was an entrant or competitor; who has never engaged in, assisted in, or taught any athletic exercise for pecuniary consideration, or in any way exploited his athletic ability for profit; and who has never taken part in any athletic competition with anyone who is not an amateur".
- These amateurs are only eligible if they have paid their capitation fees to the University.
- Membership subscription shall be two shillings for D.U.H. and a further two shillings for D.U.H.A.C.

- The A.G.M. of D.U.H.A.C. shall be held at the end of the Trinity Term;
- To receive:
- The Hon. Sec. Harriers report.
- The Hon. Treasurer's Financial report.
- The Hon. Sec.'s report.
- Any other reports due.
- For the Chairman to present cups and medals;
- To elect:
- The President,
- Vice-Presidents,
- The Captain,
- The Vice-Captain,
- The Hon. Sec., The Hon. Treasurer, The Hon. Publicity Manager, The Hon. Team Secretary, and three other committee members.
- To deal with any other specified business. Business to be placed upon the agenda shall be handed into the Secretary 7 days before the meeting.
- The Harriers annual meeting shall be held at the end of the Hilary Term.

- The running of the club shall be vested in two committees:
- The senior committee of D.U.H.A.C. which shall consist of ten members.
- The Harriers committee to consist of the Captain, The Hon. Sec. and two members.
- The committees are to be elected at the A.G.M.'s of the respective sections. The convenors of the committees shall be their captains'. The paid up members of the Club shall be entitled to nominate and vote for any member of these committees. The nominations shall be sent to the Hon. Sec. at least 14 days before the A.G.M. He shall post the nominations at least 7 days before the A.G.M.. Presidents and Vice-Presidents elected shall not be undergraduates. Committee meetings shall be held whenever required, and four members shall form a quorum.
- The committee shall decide any questions as to the interpretation of the Rules and deal with any matter not definitely provided for therein.
